I bought a Corsair Air540 case to build my new system. The Air540 is a mid-tower cube with very good airflow, great cable routing, and a huge window on one side so you can see your system build (since the case has a huge window on the side and simple case fans, I had to replace the fans with LED fans, but that's another story). .) Unfortunately, the DVD drive bays are vertical. Since most computer DVD drives have a tray, they are a bit tricky to use from the side. Accordingly, I bought a slot…

Great Bay Adapter: Hard Drive Enclosure

I'm using this on my server so I can have an optical drive and a 2.5" OS SSD that only takes up a 5.25 slot. My motherboard is a bit old so it doesn't have USB 3 ports; The solution is to get an adapter like this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098FSJ92/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I thought the USB 3 cable would not fit. be long enough to get through my (very large) case to the motherboard, but it was 1.5 feet long so I didn't even need a store-bought extension cord…

The door always pushes outwards. Big concern that the very small lock that keeps them closed will break. (Though I'm concerned I haven't seen a reviewer say this.) Other than that, everything works very well. I wasn't clear what cables were included: It comes with a SATA cable (for the hard drive enclosure) and a power connector (if available. I understand it MUST be used to power the enclosure's LED hard drive) . that the thin optical drive you choose can be delivered. Also, this is for the…

Really good for the price, just check the compatibility.

Good for what it is. Cables are cheap and ugly, but fully functional. If you don't have a display case, no big deal. Make sure your optical drive has a slim profile and not an ultra-slim laptop profile. It will still fit and stay secure, it's just not ideal. The replacement drive is very convenient, just make sure your system and motherboard are compatible with the hot-swappable SSD. Fits perfectly in my 5.5" bay and comes with all necessary screws.

Fairly good but light

22.05. - I bought this to fit a 2.5" removable drive into my Optiplex 7010 desktop and still keep a DVD-RW. the price reflects this. If you have a single 5.25 slot and rarely change your drives, I think you'll find this invaluable. The CD bay holds the 12.7mm drive very well, and with a magnetized screwdriver it's easy to secure with the screws provided. I found that if you have a desktop computer on the side, the drives open fit their side, thin shims (7mm) often miss the connector, thicker…

The best adapter is 5.25 bay. Period.

I recently bought a Benefix Prodigy Case that is absolutely beautiful in nature but only allows an external 5.25 slot. The case has USB 3.0 on the side, but it comes with a USB 2.0 adapter so you can use that instead of USB 2.0. I used USB 2.0 on the case and connected these two for USB 3.0. I do a lot of computer repairs, and while I love my BlacX USB 3.0 Hard Drive Adapter, nothing beats good old-fashioned SATA speeds. The front hard drive is hot-swappable if your motherboard supports it (and

Works great - A few notes

I love this product. My music PC is a powerful powerhouse, but I wanted to fit it in the smallest chassis possible, leaving only 3.5" and 5.25" bays open. I have a multicard reader in 3.5 and this article in 5.25. The internal space on the computer's hard drive is occupied by 2 plundered 2.5-500GB hard drives, and there is little space left under the multi-card reader into which I slipped an SSD 2.5 as a boot. Where this item will come in handy in Well 5.25. It includes a Blu-ray burner, USB…

Bad design choices prevent it from being a real winner.

I was wanting to fit a slim IDE drive with this thing, but I had one annoying factor holding me back: the USB cable was routed through the TOP half of the case. For some reason, the USB cable doesn't run from the bottom, despite having enough space next to the 2.5-inch dock. Instead, it starts at the bottom where the connectors are, then rises to the exit, carving a cutout for the drive's slim interface. Not only does this prevent me from installing the drive with its adapter into the case…
