Review on πŸ” Enhanced Comfort Set - AMVR VR Facial Interface Soft Bracket & PU Leather Foam Face Cover Pad Replacement for Oculus Rift S (A) by Kevin Shimmens

Exactly what I was looking for!

Thank you AMVR for publishing this product. While it's not perfect and might need some tweaking, it solves one of my biggest issues with the disgusting Rift S sweat sponge headband. I currently have both an AMVR headset stand and controller grips. I seem to be growing into an avid AMVR devotee as they are the only ones showing love for the Rift S in the accessories department. Halo replacements aren't as convenient as the original, but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. appear. I'm sure a lot of this is personal preference and everyone's head is a little bit different. I see everyone complaining about the light around the face interface. This is one of the things they need to change. But I previously modified my Rift S with a thicker interface bezel from VRCover. So I don't get any extra light around my face. (The VRCover pad I'm using is for the Rift CV 1, but I got it to work.) So the thicker red pad in my photos is from VRCover, it doesn't come with the AMVR kit. If only AMVR included something like this: AMVR VR Face Interface and Interchangeable Foam Comfort Set for Oculus Rift But for Rift S that would be perfect. Because the bezel they include is only about 6mm thick. Compared to 16mm on the CV1 overlay in the link above. The only other issue I had is that the two small plastic clips that hold the pad to the headset itself aren't as good as the originals and tend to pop out a bit. Always with Tranquillity. But it's not so bad that it doesn't last. They could also have improved the comfort of the forehead pad as it's a little stiffer, but it wasn't a bad thing. I played in the Pistol Whip for an hour and had no problems and didn't have a sweaty headband afterwards. So I am very happy with my purchase as I only need a replacement Halo Pad. If only they had increased the thickness of the included face pad they would have gotten 5 stars from me. currently installed. I will update this review when I get it and try it. UPDATE: So I got the CV1 face pads and they fit and feel better than the ones I had previously installed. So this is definitely the way to go if you are looking for an instant fix. You can attach the CV1 panel to the included interface bracket and simply discard the CV1 bracket. Or you can do what I did and rip off the foam on your original Oculus Rift S interface and install your own velcro using this: Velcro Industrial Strength Just make sure you apply the velcro across the entire interface without to tear. So no light can penetrate under the overlay. Because the CV1 set has two pads, one for people who wear glasses and one for regular ones. After that, you will have two interfaces that you can easily change depending on the situation. I know it might be too much work or money for some and yes AMVR should just include a thicker interface panel. But sometimes you just do what you have to do.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
