A used treasure among camera lenses

A small, lightweight plastic lens that far exceeds its low price. I'm really impressed with the images this thing produces. I bought it hoping to find out what focal length I would use more often before settling on a prime lens. I tend to use longer focal lengths because I make portraits more intimate/understated. This lens works great across the range. Pictures are clear. Perfectly sharp. They are bright and beautiful. And the lens is light. I use it on the Nikon D7100 which has the built in focus mechanism that this lens needs to auto focus. The focus is fast and accurate. There is a catch, if you are using camera models that require AF-S or SWM lenses (the D40, D3xxx, D5xxx series are the ones that spring to mind immediately), they will NOT autofocus with this lens. It mounts and works on these crop sensor cameras as a 42-120mm lens, but only as a manual focus lens. However, I'm more than thrilled with the D7100, but I couldn't have done it without my camera's autofocus. Good manual focusing with any lens/camera takes too long and misses too many frames in my opinion. I bought from KEH as before. They have a reliable rating system as well as a limited warranty. The lens I received doesn't look like it was ever touched. All it needed was a clear UV filter to keep it pristine.

Pros
  • Nikon F-mount mount
Cons
  • No instructions
