For my first experiences with vinyl I bought transfer tape from Oracal. It was difficult to use and such a big contrast to the Angel Crafts band. I liked how little effort it took to separate my vinyl from the backing. Works like an absolute charm. I have now used this for forward transmission, reverse and layered designs. Direct transmission is a breeze. The tape lays down nicely and evenly from a large roll. Buck is great. Aligning the grid is easy enough, although it's hard to tell when I'm wrong! haha my fault not the strap ;D The back is a bit tricky as the strap holds up really well. So it's a bit more work than I had with Oracal, but the results are good. I learn to use this and unlearn the other. But it captured some of the small details that I struggled with at Oracal. Layering is less sticky as you add the next layer but still works great. There are no problems with air bubbles between the layers yet. And unfortunately, when I made the mistake of gluing the bottom layer before the top layer, I was able to carefully lift the wrong layer back onto its base and redo it correctly. Oracal was much more forgiving as the stickiness was so low that the pieces could just come loose. I've just put my first vinyl on a car with this tape and it worked flawlessly too. There was a slight crease, but I was able to prevent wrinkling and minimize air bubbles. I'm not very experienced with appliqués, so the tape isn't to blame either. The tape separated the vinyl well, but I may have torn it off too quickly as the small corners had lifted up a bit. There was a little residue on the glass, not quite sticky but it was clear where the tape was. A little glass cleaner and it all went away (that's when the raised corners came out). The ribbon I used made a significant impression on my design and was severely twisted. Oracal Tape lays flat afterwards and can be reused multiple times (albeit poorly). This tape was more difficult to reuse because it curled a lot. But it still stands out. I need to seal the edges with tape so I can use it a second time. Not critical as it is mostly used once. I like that the back is blue and the strap is transparent. Being able to see my design is important to me and my customers who buy my decals. I want it to be easy to use. The Oracal paper backing is a very pliable paper backing while the Angel Crafts backing is much stronger. This is perfect for my needs as most of my stickers are sent through the post and I am more confident that they will arrive safe and sound. It was easy to get dents or creases on the Oracal tape. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and plan to purchase more in other sizes. I do a lot of smaller decals so the 6 inch might be more convenient for me. I'm still planning on trying other brands but for now I'm sticking with Angel Crafts. Now they also offer vinyls which I'm dying to try.
