Review on πŸ’‘ Efficient and Durable 40 Watt Tubular Intermediate Incandescent - 40T6 5 Model by Orwin Greener

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Hey, hey, my, my (Into the black) - It's better to burn out than fade.

I bought these as a great alternative to the lightbulbs I buy at our local hardware store which are about $5 each. Our microwave often uses incandescent bulbs as the light is almost always on (when desired). At just over $3 a bulb I thought it was a smart buy: significantly cheaper at $3.33 apiece and I'd have enough for years to come. A lightbulb worked for about 6 months and burned out. Seemed a lot shorter than usual but close enough that it was still a good deal. Bulb two did roughly the same thing, just a little shorter: 5 months. Ham. Bulb 3 started blinking a week after installation. Lamp 4 started flashing immediately after installation. Bulb 5 did the same thing: it functioned normally for about a minute before getting brighter, brighter, brighter, brighter and going out. At this point I was almost certain that our microwave was bad, but I decided to experiment with number 6. trip to the store; $5 over the counter. The shop lamp is installed and works as it should. Light 6 goes on and puts on a light show for us - something between flickering and flickering brighter and brighter until it goes out prematurely a minute later. Our newly purchased shop light is back and all is well. I think it was a manufacturing defect and the gas inside leaked out. While this provided some amusement and suspense over how short-lived the latter might be, and led to a series of discussions and lively debates in our kitchen over lunch, it proved a waste of time and money.
