All the bedroom lights we've ever had on the wall switch. If you have outlets that are controlled by a wall switch, those lights won't light up when you turn on the switch. You still have to touch the lamp to turn it on, which can be tricky in a dark room. Also, you have to press or touch the lamp quite hard to make it light up, which is tricky in a dark room. Do not purchase these devices if you will be plugging them into a wall outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. The only reason I gave them two stars is because my wife loves the way they look and they are in the guest room. Also, I had to buy a floor lamp to plug into an outlet so we could turn it on with the wall switch to see the lamps turn on.
