Review on 🚤 Efficient Bilge Pump Float Switch for Shoreline Marine: A Must-Have Accessory by Donotello Figueroa

There are a couple of design issues that make it unsuitable for the main hold switch, I currently have it installed on a backup pump but I wouldn't trust it anymore firstly, the range of float travel is too wide. The float on the switch must move to a nearly vertical position to activate the pump. In my trunk that's a good 3+ inches of water. Having a wide bilge can add significant water weight and create a dangerous situation. Second, the swimmer must move to the end of their movement to break free. Unfortunately, most bilge pumps don't remove all of the water from the bilge, leaving a half inch when the pump stops sucking. 1/4 inch of water will not let this switch turn off the pump, it has to go all the way down. You can't install it on the same level as the pump, it must be higher. The switch will work if you have a stepped swamp grip that is lower than the height of the switch. You can install the switch 1/4" above the pump, which will turn the switch off completely at the end of the pump cycle. Positioning is critical to successful operation.
