It's solid plastic, but it's just a piece of plastic with a few holes and a few small screws, pretty pricey for something that doesn't really look like it was made for this kennel. When it wears out or it gets too drafty this winter due to a poor fit, I just cut a slightly larger piece of tarp and use that. The dogs were a bit suspicious at first but they're using it now.
