The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM worked for a very long time, but it was time to take it in for repair and borrowed a Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM as a replacement. The picture is comparable. Yes, it’s darker, but still I don’t usually shoot at a fully open aperture, so it doesn’t matter. But lighter, which is a plus. And twice as cheap, which is also a serious plus for many. The only negative noticed in the comparison is a weaker stabilizer. IMHO, a step or two. But again, it becomes noticeable at shutter speeds longer than 1/100.
