Review on Smart Wi Fi Water Sensor Detector Safety & Security by Bart Elbrink

Bad guide, shaky reputation but it works (so far)

This little invention is a great idea, especially as experience has taught me to be paranoid when a water heater fails. I ordered and received the product in about 15 hours. (Nice job Revain MWD-7!) No problem downloading an app whose home screen at least looks well designed for my phone over Wi-Fi. However, trying to connect the sensor to my phone via Wi-Fi proved to be a major headache. My system and hardware met all the requirements listed in the app's "Help" section and I literally followed the very sparse printed and online instructions, but after about an hour of unsuccessful trying, I gave up. It didn't help that the so-called "instructions" were printed in small print on a small leaflet with poor illustrations. The next day I tried again and found instructions (again lean) in the phone app (NOT a tiny printed foldout) for pairing the phone and sensor using the "AP" method. (I thought AP stood for Access Point.) This method worked the first time I tried it. I checked the sensor twice - 24 hours apart - and it alerted my phone to the leak almost immediately. (The "leak" was a tiny puddle of water in a saucer.) The only problem I could detect at that moment was that the sensor's "alarm" sound was as small as a mouse squeak, and there was only one Times . Of course, this renders the alarm completely useless. Other buyers have complained that the app and/or sensor stopped working after a relatively short period of time, so I feel like I'm taking a risk with using it - a risk I was willing to take because of this gadget could help prevent a disaster if it continues to function. To work! Since I can't be 100% sure, I've settled for regular testing. To sum up, this leak detector is a great idea, but both the instructions (printed and in the app) and the audible alarm need a BIG improvement. I only recommend it to buyers with a high disappointment tolerance and a moderate risk tolerance.
