There is a large sports store that makes clothes with a strong drawstring at the waist of pants. It's hard to describe. Instead of separate pieces that come together to tie at the front, it's one continuous piece of elastic that can't be fastened. You can tighten it, but it will not bind. How do they expect you to actually use it? I can't figure it out, but most of their stuff doesn't adjust the waist at all, so I've been trying to work with that. I use a safety pin to grab the elastic and thread it through this switch. Once the button is on the elastic it's pretty easy to adjust and secure the elastic so the pants don't sag at the crotch and slide down when they're on and then I can easily undo the button to pull the pants down over my hips - just have to be careful not to pull the latch all the way when releasing. This results in super-fitting trousers that fit me perfectly in every respect and are functional. It's like finding a needle in a haystack when you're not the right model. So this worked great for my needs.
