GREAT NVMe, works when booting into ASUS Z97-AR! 3300 Mbit reads!

I got this NVMe because my regular SATA SSD was pretty full and also because SSDs have come a long way since I bought the Samsung Evo 850 SATA SSD. I've seen a few incorrect questions and answers regarding the possibility of using NVMe SSDs on some Z97 boards, and I'm here to tell you that you certainly can if your board has an integrated M.2 slot (M-Key) and your BIOS has been updated. to let you do it As I said, I have an ASUS Z97-AR, the same as Z97-A, but completely black, and all I need to boot from NVMe is change some settings in the BIOS, now the default boot is NVMe, and that Backup is my old SATA drive. A few years ago ASUS released a BIOS update for (presumably) all Z97 and Z99 boards to accept NVMe SSDs. That being said, my board's M.2 slot is only PCIe 2.0 x2 so I'm not getting full NVMe speeds. With the standard slot I get around 850MB/s read and 820MB/s write. This is still an improvement over the 550/500 with SATA. And if your motherboard has an onboard M.2 slot, YOU CAN purchase an additional board to use NVMe in the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot so you can boot and run at full speed. However, if you do this (I haven't tested it with a newer GPU) it may affect your GPU's performance by running your GPU at x8 instead of x16 depending on the slot you use. When I use PCIe 3.0 x16 slot #2 my GPU goes x8, when I use PCIe 2.0 x16 the GPU still runs at x16 but NVMe runs at PCIe 2.0 x8 which improves current performance even more. So there is something to consider when installing it on an old motherboard. With all of that the disc itself is great, I'm very happy with it. Installation is easy, it's quick, almost instantaneous even at low speed, and the heatsink cools well. When I initially looked into NVMe drives, I wanted to go with the 250GB card and the cheaper 3.0 Gen 4 card based on my motherboard, but the cards averaged around $50-$60 eh prompted me to seek out the 500GB cards for something more. about 70 dollars. -80 dollars. And when this drive (WD SN750 500GB with heatsink) went on sale for $89, I jumped at it as an investment for the future when doing another build. All in all I highly recommend this NVMe, the performance is on par with any high-end PCIe 3.0 Gen 4 drives and the cooling is better in most cases. *UPDATE* For those of you who have read this far, I purchased an additional PCIe 3.0 card to run NVMe at full speed. I put it in the second PCIe x16 (3.0) slot and got fantastic results with almost no impact on my GPU. Also, I can still boot from this drive as I said initially because my motherboard supports M.2 natively.
