I've had experience with real negative ion generators and this one doesn't work at all. It doesn't produce a faint hiss and creates a soft flow of air from the graphite bristles. While the bristles are related to mains voltage, the circuit does not provide enough boost to create negative ions. =============== Updated Review: After taking this unit apart I found that it was only a 120VAC to 5VDC power supply for the LEDs. One of the 5V outputs (marked "LED102" in the diagram on the board) is connected to the sealed circuits of the proposed high voltage multiplier. Components as they should be (see the first photo which shows the location of some components but none of them were installed). Also, the board is a direct connection to the carbon fiber radiators (see picture of the blue side of the board with traces going directly from the 5V input to the carbon fiber radiators). This device is completely BS. Carbon fiber emitters are not driven by high voltage, low current. It only supplies 5V to the carbon fiber emitters. At this low voltage, no ionization takes place. Complete robbery.
