I have had an OTA antenna with an amplifier for 6 years. This was only used when my DISH™ signal was blocked by weather and the like. Recently, local broadcaster FOX decided to charge exorbitant fees to allow DISH™ to broadcast their FREE channels! (Thanks to our 1992 Congress). After much research I found out that this module is made by DISH™. They sell it for $50 + shipping. On the other hand, The Connection Depot sells it for $39 and FREE shipping! I could not resist. It arrived a few days ahead of schedule which is always great! See the DISH™ website for installation instructions. In addition, the DISH™ Installation/Owner's Manual is included with the module. I recommend you to carefully study both the manual and the online manual. Also, I recommend using RG6 coaxial cables as mentioned in the manual. My antenna is a reinforced outdoor antenna with a range of up to 100 miles. I tried to enter the module directly, but there was no signal. So I went through the control unit/amplifier/antenna splitter coming from TV1. I first came to TV from TV2 with coax which is ok. However, I then decided to run the TV1 OUT from the module to the TV instead. This way I got a slightly stronger signal through the control box because it didn't have to separate the signal. Well, here's the superfood part. I could not receive the channels via the satellite signal because the broadcaster pulled them out of the channel. Nevertheless, I now receive them via the OTA module. Also, I can now record 2 programs at the same time via the OTA module, plus two at the same time via the satellite signal! My OTA signal strength is 100% on most of the 28 channels I can receive. Multiple channels average about 90%. I live about 60-75 miles from the towers, but it's 35-55 miles in a straight line. On rare occasions, I temporarily lose signal because the wind shakes the trees. But it'll be right back. word to the wise. If you have connected a DVR to two TVs and are exiting the TV1 module, you will need to set up the module via the DISH™ menu. Instructions are in the manual. If you do need to call DISH™ for technical support, they will walk you through each step, from installing the module to completing setup. One thing I noticed about the DISH™ technology is that you need to set TV1 and TV2 to CABLE. Oh, TV2 Guide now has OTA channels, same as TV1 Guide! I recommend this to all DISH™ customers who have a compatible satellite receiver and need free to air channels in their guide!
