Review on Saturn πŸŒ• Science Building LEGO Apollo by Pressure Cook

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice and accurate set but does not hold up well once assembled

I have to admit I bought this set for my 5 year old boy who loves the Apollo story as I know That this set is recommended for ages 14+. The set is amazing, beautiful and very accurate in terms of how the Saturn V works (it has three stages, an eagle lander, a capsule, a lunar orbiter, three tiny astronauts, etc.) and it's amazing how you break up the stages can and recreate the entire voyage from Apollo to the Moon with this Lego set. My 5 year old boy, who has a lot of experience with many Legos, was able to follow the instructions very well. However, the set is difficult to assemble as some parts do not fit together very well or are very fragile and delicate. Sometimes your own finger or hand ruins a section and it's really hard to fix (sometimes it's easier to start over). Once assembled the Saturn V doesn't stand well, I think it's designed to rest horizontally (which is fine if you plan to use it for decoration rather than play). This set will not be a toy at all, as movement always leads to destruction. My 5 year old son learned it the hard way, after 3 days of assembly it was destroyed in 5 minutes and we had to reassemble it and he somehow learned how to reassemble it himself. The display is horizontal and it's great, but we rarely touch it or play with it again for fear of destruction :-)

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
