Review on πŸ’‘ Siemens ECSBPK03 Standby Power Mechanical Interlock for Generators by Raymond Vogel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great / easy to install

Lock works exactly as intended. No changes required. Parts must not be modified in order to maintain UL approval.” It was used on my Siemens P4080B1200ACU panel along with the Siemens Q230 Type QP circuit breaker and Siemens ECMBR2 mounting kit. Note that the ECMBR2 mounting kit requires a 60 amp or larger breaker for the electrical screw cover to engage. Lower current switches do not have latches that capture the black edge of the cover. In my opinion, operation without this cover is acceptable for my use. My panel is fitted with a 200A main switch at the top. In this orientation, this lock works great. The slide bar of this 200A circuit breaker has a small latch that keeps the bar in place during installation and cover removal. I suspect if the main body were down, gravity would cause the generator breaker slide bar to latch the cover, requiring manual holding when installing/removing the cover since that little latch isn't there. The interlock requires both switches to be off and the slides over the switches to install or remove the panel cover. The interlock is set when the generator switch is in positions 1+3. The latch (and clamp set) blocks switch positions 2 + 4. This latch uses FOUR switch positions: 1; 2; 3 and 4. The lockout kit has latches that secure the generator switch. Removing the interlock kit after it's snapped onto the generator switch looks VERY tricky, so DO THIS as the LAST STEP. The blocking cost is a bit high, but it's what you need and it's a great solution. This interlock ensures complete safety when connecting/using a manually operated home generator.

Pros
  • No panel modification required; Switch not included
Cons
