I use my laptop as the primary desktop in my college dorm, but I just needed more screen real estate to improve my productivity while completing tasks. My budget was around $100 and I wanted HDMI and 1080p resolution. After reading hundreds of reviews this was one of the best monitors I have found at this price point. Here are my own observations: Design: I've always trusted Asus and admired their quality. The plastic of this monitor is no exception. It is very well made and I have no doubt that it will last for many years. The stand is also solid. My only gripe is that the monitor is a little thick, but for the price and age I can't complain. Not much to say about the speakers, but it's a very cool bonus feature. 8.5/10 Image: Although the colors are a bit uneven from a wide angle, I like the quality of the screen. Colors are bright, accurate and produce excellent images when properly calibrated. I liked the matte finish as it reduces screen glare. 9/10 Connections: This monitor has standard HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs plus an additional AUX input for built-in speakers (see below). I wish the port access was a little easier, maybe backwards rather than parallel, but that wasn't a problem once I got everything set up. I think the design is great for compact cable management. 9/10Software: Menus and settings, especially for the picture, are simple and easy to use! I found the monitor easy to use. On the PC side, this monitor is plug and play and requires no real setup. 10/10 Conclusion: If you are looking for a cheap or second monitor, you should definitely take a look at this monitor (or similar models from ASUS)! I'd definitely buy a second one, although I'd buy one without the speakers (they're a bit thinner).
