Review on 🚰 Pro-LevelSense: WiFi-Connected Sump Pump Alarm with Internal Rechargeable Battery, Real-Time Online Level Monitoring by Carlos Block

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Mixed package but does the job

Have owned this item for over a year. Here are my thoughts. Pros: - Basically does what I bought it for, although my use case required some tweaking and working with support to get it right. Takes on the task of monitoring my sump pump and standby sump pump. - The portal is operational and being (slowly) renovated. Cons: - The water level sensor never worked properly. I have contacted support several times. Ran at this point. Incorrigible for this model I think. While this isn't an essential feature, so it's not a big deal. The included cable ties become brittle in the cold water of my pit. Broken and had to be replaced in each case - The device does not support WLAN passwords with special characters. Not sure. - The mobile app is still in missing mode despite being promised for summer 2019. - When I reboot my network devices (e.g. a firmware update), the device turns off and stays offline until the reset button is pressed. I suspect the issue is with the device's DHCP client. Update January 2020: The DHCP problem described above no longer occurs. Although the system does not come back online after a very quick network outage, it is now coming back. Update April 2020: It looks like the company has introduced a version of this product that doesn't have water level control and is MUCH lower. Price. Since this feature is useless most of the time anyway (unless maybe your water level is rising EXTREMELY slowly), I would recommend choosing this version over this version. The app is finally on Google Play Store (as Early Access) so I will try and make an additional update. Update June 2020: Finally a working solution to the water level sensor problem. As it turns out, the functions of humidity and water level are somehow related (maybe the same hardware sensor with software interprets the data to get two results: one for humidity and one for water level - not sure). For anyone else struggling with this, the problem was actually large fluctuations in humidity in my basement throughout the day (around 15%). Since the two functions are linked, these humidity fluctuations will cause the depth reading to fluctuate wildly, rendering the function unusable. After installing a dehumidifier that keeps the humidity around 45%, the water depth function will work much more reliably. I'm saving my 3-star rating as this effort shouldn't be necessary for the depth sensor to work properly.
