My shepherd dog is allergic. He suffers from dry, itchy scabs and hot spots. We've tried allergy shots but they didn't work, keto-c shampoo helps but only for a few days. We eliminated all chicken products and now he is on a grain free diet. He also takes an Apoquel pill daily. Along with his grain-free dry dog food that contains salmon, I wanted to give him something more flavorful. The pet store owner gave me a can of salmon wet dog food and he loved it. Later I read how good salmon is for the dog's coat and skin. I ordered a box of this food and he's eating his morning meal. I add a spoonful to his kibble and stir to coat all the pieces. Of course, the smell of salmon fills the laundry room where his feeding bowl is, but for a maximum of half an hour. My German Shepherd has always had a soft coat, but I have noticed that his coat looks and feels much healthier; lighter and softer. Best of all, he no longer suffers from itchy, dry, flaky skin. It can be medication or a combination of medication and food. But whatever it is, I'm happy and he's happy. A glass is enough for a week. I cover and refrigerate, and date the jar as soon as I open it; I don't want to drag this out for more than a week. I'm sold and he loves it! And I will continue to buy anything but 100% salmon for my boy.
