This backpack is well padded, comfortable to wear and overall of quality material and construction. It's medium sized so I use it for long day hikes and also wear it when I go to the local market to take my groceries home. I recently walked to and from the market (3 miles round trip) and packed 4 pounds of frozen fish, 2 pounds of canned food, two small bags of apples, a box of tea and a small bag of frozen veggies. Everything was just right and the way home was comfortable. For day hikes it has 2 side pockets for water bottles and plenty of space for provisions and gear. There is a small bottom pocket with a bright orange rain cover for a backpack in heavy rain. It consists of two parts: a frame and a backpack. The backpack can be carried without a frame, but it is more comfortable with it. I should add that this is not a backpack with an inner frame as stated in the description; the frame is outside the box. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to assemble it while thinking about how the frame could fit in the backpack (it doesn't). Once I found out it was an external frame, it took me just a minute to attach it to my backpack with flaps under the straps. Instructions are not included, but are not needed once I realize they are not included in the kit. All in all, this is a very good, functional, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing backpack. I plan to use it a lot, having already done a few trips with it.
