Review on 🐠 Seachem Cupramine Copper 100ml: Effective Solution for Controlling Parasites in Aquariums by Maria Aguillon

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Plants consume it quickly - you need a good copper tester and a daily dose if you have a planted aquarium.

I ended up buying a Hannah Instruments Low Range Copper Controller because I had a small problem that I couldn't get rid of. worth your money. I bought direct from Hannah to make sure I got the original and bought additional trial packs. I have found that my heavily planted aquarium uses about 50% copper overnight! It's great to see how plants really purify water. However, you cannot use the dosing instructions on the Cupramine bottle if you have a planted aquarium, as your plants use up the copper very quickly. Cupramine did not harm the plants at all, they actually thrive. The only thing I noticed is that the fish seem to lose their appetite during dosing but are still very active and I haven't seen a single outbreak in a few days. However, in addition, they perfectly cope with fluctuations in the amount of copper. I had to overdose on it basically every day and the next day it was still less than the right dose. For example dosing an aquarium to almost 400 ppb (optimal dose is around 250 ppb for my aquarium) and dropping to around 200 ppb or less the next day. To give you an idea of how densely planted my tank is, it's crammed with wall-to-wall plants like a super dense jungle with Revane's swords bent over the waterline and a red tiger lotus with tons of water lilies. Rotalia and other plants grown on the surface. Bottom Line: If you have a heavily stocked tank, you will need to dose daily to try to keep the right amount of copper in the tank. And I recommend the Hanna Instruments low range copper tester, which you can buy direct from that company, to make sure you're getting a real instrument. Yes it's expensive but I think it's worth it. I have cardinal and glowing tetras, rasbora, rasboa, guppies, corridors.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
