Review on StarTech.com Universal VESA LCD Monitor Mounting Bracket for 19-inch Rack or Cabinet - TAA Compliant - Cold-Pressed Steel (RKLCDBK) by Christopher Pfaffe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Made in Canada? Good equipment. Self-explanatory

It goes without saying that ratings are purely subjective and are never universally accepted. I don't understand the criticism of "iron" - be it poor quality or confusion with placement. This is not a complex product. In order to understand this overview, he makes the "terminology" correct/understandable for others. This kit is as simple as it gets. Components: Back panel, side brackets (one for mounting on left and right racks) and 3 types of screws (4 for mounting the brackets on the back panel, 4 for mounting the back panel on the monitor and 8, although not required for use all 8- To attach the assembled bracket to the rack Please note that you must first determine whether you can attach the bracket after the monitor is attached to it, or attach the bracket to the server rack first and then attach the monitor to it Anyway this is a very simple process to screw the monitor to the base plate In my case when the bracket and monitor were first attached I was unable to mount the bracket using the rear posts of mine It makes sense to attach the monitor to the back and then align/push against the server rack to determine the final position where the monitor is outside or inside the rack post should protrude. Once you know this, you can tighten the side arms into their final position. If you pre-attach the bracket and then install it in a server rack, you may not have access to the screws. This also allows the monitor to move in and out 1 inch after attaching to the base. When building it makes sense. I felt that the 3 types of screws, clearly marked and packaged accordingly, should be of good quality. Also, the backplate's threaded attachment points were very strong. No problems with cross threads or stripping. [Tip: Any time a screw is inserted or reinserted after it has been removed from the original if it is fastened in a material other than that manufactured as a self-locking metal screw in plastic or sheet metal; Insert the screw with light pressure first and slowly turn it back ("counter-clockwise" - the opposite of how you tightened the screw) until you feel a slight "click" and let it fall. This "click" is the sound and feel of the screw's natural realignment with the thread pattern. The screw will of course be rebuilt with a specific thread pattern that has already been "forged" between materials, be it metal to metal or metal to plastic etc., especially with self-anchoring screws.] In particular, rack mounts are great, this is a complete M5 sized mounting kit (some rack hardware is M6) consisting of a thru-bolt, a washer and a nut. You don't need to use a nut if your server rack's threads are large and don't require a large load capacity. However, I recommend using a washer with a washer as it gives a professional look, isolates metal to metal contact and reduces vibration. The benefit of "universal" M5 mounting screws is that they will work with larger mounting holes if you use the nuts provided. Otherwise you will need to drill holes in the rack rails for M6 screws and use nuts. Despite this, this mount is made of durable, thick metal and allows for multiple-position installation. I took a few shots to capture how I used the C-pillar location and pushed in the side arms to limit depth (although it's hard to see the side arm bolts once the bracket is installed), which caused my Monitor stays flush with the front rails. Frame. Again, STEP 1, pre-assemble the frame (using 4 screws to attach the arms that screw directly into the backplate). Do not overtighten as you may want to adjust the final position of the monitor before attaching the bracket to the stand. I recognize that there are different levels of experience and skill with these types of products, but I find it a bit detrimental for a product/seller to throw an item away just because you had to hire a trained monkey to do it for you. . If nothing else, please accept professional advice as my gift to pass on.

Pros
  • ADJUSTABLE DEPTH: The unique adjustable design allows the LCD panel to be installed in an AV rack cabinet at different depths; so you can close the rack/cabinet door.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
