Faded white display. Small light text is almost illegible.

I'm using a 2017 12" Macbook Retina connected via HDMI. I've tried every calibration setting (of which there are few) to no avail. The screen is just blurry. Other reviews also mentioned this issue, I should have listened. If looking at this monitor, it's like I've just swum for an hour without glasses in a heavily chlorinated pool. Everything is blurry and white. Text in the dimmed menu bar is barely legible. Black browser tabs on a gray background are barely visible Also, as mentioned in Elsewhere, it's a large monitor that's hard to see at an angle, like the corners are covered in frosted glass. There's not enough contrast at "normal" brightness levels. It helps, but then it's not bright enough Other issues: The built-in speakers feel good, but the Mac's volume controls don't seem to interact with the monitor, so you have to Fiddle with the single button on the monitor to use this built-in volume control menu. Really uncomfortable. Maybe there's a way to fix this, but given the other issues, it wasn't worth figuring out. Still, the hardware is okay: it's a great looking monitor with a great stand. So I suspect that other similarly styled LG models could have a better display. But that's not it. Do not buy this monitor.

Pros
  • Anti-glare screen
Cons
  • Bad input lag
