Soaks up liquids as described (doesn't turn to cement at the bottom of the box) - definitely makes scooping easier. But that doesn't help against odors. I have a large litter box for two cats. After scooping daily for 4-5 days, I noticed a strange pungent odor in the house. Yes, I have a "strange nose" (as my son says); Smells drive me crazy > turn on search and destroy mode! It wasn't the smell of urine. Something completely different. It was as if something had died and rotted away in a remote place. If you've ever been near a dead bird or mouse, it's very similar. I walked around the house, sniffed every room, and then it dawned on me. There were only two dirty spots in the box, but it was very dirty. No smell the same morning I went to bail it out. I called our vet to ask if this could be a problem with one of my cats, like a urinary tract infection, but they said no. Cat urine, even when sick, usually doesn't smell like anything dead. I do not understand. I'll try light flavor and see if that makes a difference. It says it should last 3-4 weeks with regular scooping, but I definitely don't want my house to stink like that. Hm.
