The instructions don't explain the relief you'll find on the round 3M adhesive on the mirror and adjustable base, but I assume they're there to allow moisture to escape, so I attached them using the relief on the bottom , to allow moisture to evaporate better, which allows gravity. it's one thing, if needed (my only thoughts on this gap: removing moisture to keep the glue intact longer). Maybe it's a feature, but time will tell. I usually buy blind spot mirrors once per car; As they are heavier I hope they will last a long time and stay in place. There's advice for removing those 3M sticky mirrors if, like me, you make the second choice. It was my second choice but the best choice. Tip: Use dental floss to get behind and under the previous mirror or an adjustable base to get halfway through the adhesive to get to the actual surface layer of the 3M adhesive to make it easier to remove with your fingers leaves. No additional tools are required as these can damage the original mirror surfaces. I think my second choice was the best. And there was no harm in replacing the first choice.
