Misleading mounting options

Time will tell if the unit will hold up, but the first thing that struck me was the increasing confusion. Apparently it's possible to attach the velcro to a smooth wall as the hook pad is separate and has an adhesive backing. For some reason this edition has four corner holes. It is natural to assume that this is the correct location for the cavity wall anchors included in the kit. no I found it clever: stick hooks to the wall, drill holes, hammer in dowels, then attach the bracket (to which the loop attaches) and screw in the dowels. Well, the only screw holes in the bracket don't line up with the holes in the hook plate. Not even two lined up together. So it's very unclear why there are holes in the hook plate at all, since you don't screw the hook plate to the wall 9, the screw heads almost go through the existing holes in the plate). As a result, I had to get another wall of anchors and insert them into the wall so I now have a bunch of anchors in this small space. The hinge cover is glued to the back of the bracket and the holes for attachment must go through the hinge cover (no existing holes). This makes it difficult to align the anchors in the wall as the pad wants to angle the screws oddly. I ended up removing the backing from the bracket that was held in place with glue and four tiny screws to make it easier for me to screw it into the wall anchors. My wife opened the package, so if there are installation instructions I have no idea, but if there are clear mounting holes on the bracket, there are clear mounting holes on the hook liner, you would think it's clean. One would be wrong.
