Just bought and tracker works as described with one exception. This tracker is NOT waterproof and most likely barely waterproof. So I won't use it often on my dog who wades regularly and splashes water on his GPS. I was able to improve the water resistance by using waterproof tape to cover the cracks and SIM card slot. I can guarantee that the rubber plug on the block will not prevent moisture from getting in. The rest of the block has a number of features that I like. I have used several major GPS manufacturers and have not been happy with any of them for one reason or another. As does the refresh rate - some devices either won't control or the controls are sluggish. I haven't found a frequency controller on this device, but it updates frequently - about twice a minute. I can work with it. I like the direct SMS communication with the device. The old Loc8tor devices, which I also liked but are no longer offered, had something similar. The mobile app uses Google Maps, so the display is good. This device is also a true GPS locator. As long as the squad has a cell tower within range, they can be spotted - no matter how far away you are. The real test will be to see how long the squad can last. Some of the ones I had were good enough when brand new but died within a few months. A warranty exchange is a pain. I had a manufacturer's device (well-known brand) replaced under warranty, but the replacement failed within two weeks.
