I have a Weber Spirit E-310 Grill with side controls, that was originally equipped with a porcelain-coated iron grate. After going through two grates within five years due to the porcelain chipping off and the rusting of the iron, I decided to go the stainless steel route. The new grates are heavy and fit my grill perfectly. After the first use the grates did discolor but I figure that is normal for stainless steel. The only drawback so far is that, with stainless steel, it take longer to cook the meat than iron grates. That is due to the nature of heat conduction with stainless steel as opposed to iron. But the original equipment Weber iron grates are $99 that only last a couple of years. I am hoping these SS type grates will save me money in the long run. I can always adjust cooking times.
