So if you take your time and really wait for the 24 hours it takes to make a pair of ice balls, it works very well. The ball came out perfectly round and I'd say it's over 95% clean. They have little ridges on each end where the waterholes are, but they pop right off when you want them gone, no big deal. I used to have regular silicone ice cream molds but the secret really is in the direction of freezing and having them in this mini fridge does the trick. In addition, the remaining water can be used to make a perfect block of pure ice, 3 pieces in one use. They're also great for things that require a large block of ice. I was surprised how well it works. Unfortunately it takes 24 hours to make 2 balls, but I only make them all week so I have enough for the weekend.
