Like everyone else the wings and door frames are amazing, very happy with the tight closure and the strength of the magnets. I may actually need to remove some to get my shy 50 lb Border Collie/Aussie. Shepard can handle it easily. After carefully researching all of the dog door options, I kept coming back to this one, perhaps the only quality option for people in cold climates. I opted for a large double valve. When drilling a hole in the wall, the only option you consider should be a double. Thanks also to Endura for providing clear instructions and videos. This is definitely something to think about carefully before opening your wall. I would say that the installation concept is reasonable, but the tunnel design is not perfect. They have you piece together a piece of sheet aluminum so that it's inside your outside wall and the edge of the tunnel connects to the outside door where water is most likely to get in. The design must match the interior and allow access to the seal from that side. The amount of silicone included is ridiculous, I used about 2 tubes of silicone and 1 tube of sealant for the outside when all is said and done. After the tunnel was installed, I sealed all of the outer seams, and then the inner ones. However, as noted by some contractors who have also considered this, a waterproof membrane such as tar coated aluminum tape (window or door seals) or a roofing membrane is much more reliable when installed around a tunnel. The sides of the tunnel were loose enough that I inserted a couple of 1/2" metal screws into the center door channel to tighten it. trim, and place the "Z-Clip" on top as you would over a door or window. For threaded rods, I would like a stronger screw and lock nut, a carriage bolt fits well and is theft-proof in the event of a collision Warning: threaded rods are brittle and bend easily. For $450 I would expect quality stainless steel hardware, not something as light as the kit. Wall to the left of the tunnel If the threaded rods could be housed in their own housing then a can of great stuff would solve that problem in a jiffy, but you have to aim through that gap and line up to tighten the two doors snugly, the foam is blocking those Line of sight, cheated a bit by cutting a narrower hole at the top and bottom, but because of where the bars go you can't cut much less than the template, so there's a gap of about 1 inch on each side, which I finally filled with pipe wrap insulation. Weather protection is pathetic for the money you're spending. If a larger channel and thicker piece of material were provided it would be sufficient, but remember you still have very little frame support on the inside and outside walls to hold it in place and seal it when you use the follow the template exactly. . All in all as metal is a thermal bridge I would expect the aluminum tunnel and frame to have frost inside and condensation if it gets below freezing which could cause damage, we'll just have to wait and see this winter. This is, for the record, the nicest dog door I've installed (made a few), but with a high likelihood of managing water damage and insulation loss over the life of the product for such an expensive door, I expect more. (Hence the 3*) Probably $500 along with extras.
