Excellent water protection. A secure armband which was nice to have while snorkeling - allowed me to keep my phone with me rather than leaving it on rocks in a public place. Also close to my skin so I didn't have to worry about it hitting coral and rocks like I would if I only had the lace option. Good for taking pictures in pools but not so much in the sea. The movement of the waves causes the plastic to press against the phone's touchscreen, snapping random photos or changing camera settings. My girlfriend had a similar case and had the same issues snorkeling - she actually thought she had turned off her phone's screen and when we got out it turned out it was taking pictures in bursts the whole time and her phone's battery was completely full deflated.
