When I received these soldering iron tins I was a bit surprised at how hard the consistency was compared to the tin tips I have used in the past. Once you get used to its properties, you'll find that rolling a hot iron in this tin can works best. With old tinkerers, I put the iron in the vat to tin the tip. He did an excellent job of tinning the tip of the iron. The tinning also looks quite solid. This means I don't have to puddle as often. Deducted 1 star as this material smells strongly of ammonia when hit by a hot tip. I know some of this was to be expected from this and similar phrasing, but it was even stronger than I thought. Though it's probably better to inhale ammonia than lead fumes. I suggest, as always, to provide adequate ventilation. The product works as intended, so I am happy with the purchase.
