Review on πŸŽ›οΈ Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve Micro Panel: Compact & Portable Control Interface for Enhanced Productivity by Kevin Bucher

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really very good but not perfect

Makes it much easier to make precise changes (and change multiple items at once) on the Resolve Color Correction page. Seriously built like a tank and feels great with heavy controls. I am most looking forward to customizing and evaluating this device. Criticism (hence the four stars): For the money, I would have liked the labels on the top handles to be either lighter or more visible. I have to constantly check labels or take off my glasses to get a closer look, but I'm sure my muscle memory will improve over time. Also, the lack of an Add Node button was pretty mean. I guess Blackmagic did this not to compete with the Mini Panel, but come on - the Mini Panel has a lot more going for it to get people going if they have the budget. Anyway, I just slide the keyboard out of the way and it's easy enough to add nodes (or else you can add an inexpensive macro keyboard). I REALLY think the micro panel is a huge asset in combination with the speed editor because the speed editor unnecessarily lacks the next/previous clip buttons that the micro panel has. It works, but it's a pretty big investment for a couple.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Upgradable
