Review on V MODA M 200 Professional Studio Headphone by Ben Diesel

Reviewing my V-Moda M-200

Comfort - 2 Build quality - 5 Sound quality - 2 The wearing comfort is abysmal, the padding on the headband is so thin you can feel stiff seams and the pads on the cups are like that thin that you can actually feel the built in ring at the bottom of the pads, the clamping force makes you feel like your head is being clamped in half. The sound quality of the speakers with the speakeasy cable is A-shaped, which means that the middle frequencies are emphasized and the high and low frequencies are cut back. Give them a very muted sound. As for the balanced cable, I'll have to get back to you as I haven't found anything that works with a 3.5mm jack. Why couldn't V-Moda use the industry-standard 4.4mm jack instead? Now I have to buy an adapter for a very unusual plug. Overall, the headphones so far are overpriced for what you get. You are better off buying a pair of Audio Technica ATH-MSR7b if you want well-balanced headphones. They're $100 cheaper and sound better than the V-Moda M-200. If V-Moda wants to be a fashion company, they sell clothes, not headphones. PS The balanced cable has toned down its A-shape a bit, but detail is lost since the headphones are in the middle. These headphones do not reproduce exactly what the artist intended. Unless you feel like playing around with the equalizer.

Pros
  • Impressive
