Replaced a thermometer my son accidentally threw away. I chose this version (I liked the pace of the fish). We used these last night to cook thick cast iron ribs and I like to pull them at around 160/65. The thermometer never rose above 130 or so. However, when I finally pulled them out and cut them open, they were overcooked. Ruined our dinner and I'm sending it back. I don't know if it's defective or just not effective, but I'll just buy something that will work for years as a replacement rather than trying again.
