Review on Cardo PTB00001-PACKTALK Bold Motorcycle Bluetooth Communication Headset-Black, Single Pack by Jason Hayes

Cardo Packtalk Bold was a big disappointment

I was really hoping I would like this headset but found it seriously flawed tonight and for the test ride this morning. Cardo says it's partnered with JBL, and the box says "Now with JBL's powerful, immersive sound," so I was expecting quality sound. The sound is very quiet and no bass. I've read some reviews about poor sound quality, but had to experience it myself. At highway speeds (75 mph) with the helmet on and the volume maxed out, the noise was barely noticeable. I stopped to adjust the speakers but I'm still having the same problem. 2 - I just bought a device. This was the first time I've used it and it's new out of the box. The sonic boom works great in my house, but doesn't work at high speeds. Cardo makes a bold statement about "Natural Voice Operation". but what good is it if the device doesn't work when I need it. Cardo offers a list of voice commands, but none of them worked today (while I was driving).3 - The Cardo app can connect to local FM radio. Come on, it's 2019, few people still listen to FM. And the sound was full of noise. 4 - The app does not connect to music on my Android phone. I drove to Cycle Gear to have one of their techs look at the unit. The gentleman confirmed everything was connected correctly but said the problem must be with my particular device. I bought a Sena 10S from CycleGear. I had a smile on my face on the way home. I do not recommend this device. For the price there are better alternatives. Perhaps someone who does not care about high-quality sound will like this device. For those who do, stay away.

Pros
  • A year long test
Cons
  • Hard to say
