Review on Shock Doctor Ultra Ankle Support by Matt Welch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent support, lacing allows for personalization

Excellent lacing system - allows you to adjust the fit (loose or tight) by any micro area between the eyelets. The eyelets are similar to the Nike Speed lacing system. So I assumed that by pulling the laces at the top you could tighten the entire brace. Not at all. Pull from above, only the top part is tightened. Not sure if it has to do with snagging the laces or loops (or both). Regardless, I keep mine semi-loose in the foot area, very tight at the ankle, and semi-loose near the calf. I love it because it gives me the support I need without cutting off blood flow to my foot or calf. This customization option is a real plus for me, but might not be for others who need convenience and practicality. I wear a size 9.5 men and the medium fits perfectly (worn with a sock underneath). I ordered this, the ASO ankle stabilization brace and the McDavid 195. I'm returning the McDavid. Still waiting for ASO. I've attached my McDavid review below. === I encountered the same problems as others. The forefoot is VERY tight as the elastic is short (albeit elastic). It appears to be designed to provide a very snug fit as the rest of the brace fits snugly. The narrow opening (due to the short elastic) really limited my ability to get my foot into the brace, especially since I have a severe sprain and limited mobility. I am returning this bracket.

Cons
