The electricity at our lake home suffers from frequent, temporary (minutes) blackouts. This is the most annoying because it requires me to reset my digital clock. I bought a SHARP digital alarm clock with battery backup. The clock was easy to set and read at night. The USB charging port is a great feature. I'm a little disappointed to learn that the display does NOT light up when the device is off. The battery seems to keep time, but doesn't use energy to power the LED display. While I haven't confirmed this yet, I assume the digital display will light up when the power is turned on.
