I bought these picks for gun purposes and they have served me well so far. The only thing I highly recommend is to CAREFULLY LUBRICATE the main screw before use. My vise arrived from the factory with a thin coating of protective oil - just like yours. So you need to lubricate the screw - I used plain molybdenum grease - before using it. Also check the screw head bearing (the part that connects the screw to the moving part of the vise) for proper seating. Mine was tight and therefore the vise was difficult to open/close. Use a hex bit to adjust the countersunk screw in the head of the vise moving part (top) just enough to allow the screw to turn easily.
