Pros: I like that it catches most of the junk from the packaging. We use a high walled Nature's Miracle box which catches all the junk that gets thrown away, except for the low front entrance. This mat keeps front-strike dirt off my carpet. Cons: Our cats don't like walking on it. So they jump on the box and jump on the carpet. That way it won't catch dirt from its paws when it leaves the tray. Draining is NOT easy. I tried opening and bending it to empty the trash into our bin and it was so stiff that it wasn't easy to bend to throw it away. It spilled all over my kitchen floor. Here is the elimination of the vacuum cleaner. Now I'm trying to pour it into the tray because at least it has almost the same hole size. We've had cases where "poo on the carpet" was when the kittens were scared during a walk. It's not easy to get rid of porridge. It needs to be washed with soapy water, and the rug's foam and fabric absorb water (and what do you do while it dries?). Carpet and lead to poop on our carpet which I had to steam clean TWICE in one day. Generally we don't blame the carpet for the incidents, we blame the kids for scaring the kitten when it poops, but if it were easier to clean it wouldn't lead to such an escalation.
