The thickness is hard to judge because I liked the thickness as it wasn't too thick or too thin for the project I used it on. it is strong. It has a grid and ruler measurements on the back for you to mark your measurements which is helpful. I personally had trouble attaching it because I was trying to take the entire back end off at once, which isn't part of the job, but I've done it before and it was a waste of time. Follow the directions and I suggest you find something like a driver's license or something that doesn't have prominent bulges like a credit card, or you could use nothing razor sharp, nothing sharp, on one of those plastic scrapers, but you get the idea and should hold it at an angle, smooth out any bubbles that appear when you take off the backing and apply to the surface you are applying it to. Then smooth it out to remove the bubbles and it will come out - do this from now on when you apply something permanent to remove the bubbles. Found a driver's license or that plastic tool my husband uses at work - he tints car windows with foil but get one of these it makes everything easy and hassle free for you. But lay it down and try to smooth it out, probably a little at a time
