My boys sometimes go hunting without me, and driving 70 miles an hour in the dark in the Georgia backwoods is scary for any parent. The boys turn on this bad boy and you can see the lightning bolt over the hill at least 1/2 mile away ie "no line of sight" which I think would be closer to 1-2 miles. Great sense of comfort that they can be seen clearly in the dark.
