Review on Tamron AF 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical Macro Zoom Lens for Nikon DSLR - Built-in Motor Included by Joseph Hernandez

Tamron 18-250 lens has short lifespan

I bought this lens in 2010 and it worked mostly as advertised. Of course, being a wide-angle zoom lens, I'm not a professional looking for money, but I like to show off my photos with some pride. Up until the end of 2013 this lens worked well and met my needs. Then the autofocus motor or drive components would start to drag, preventing the lens from focusing while the motor struggled and clicked to complete the action. The lens was expensive enough that I just started researching the cost of a repair, preferably no more than the price of a new one. But I think that a precision lens lasts almost forever once it's sold. Unfortunately this is not the case. For those who will draw the obvious conclusions: I'm good with my gear; I don't drop it and get peanut butter at work. So I can only conclude that this lens has reached the end of its life after 3 years.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Poor performance

The Auto Focus doesn’t work. Otherwise it takes clear pictures.
