UPDATE: This air purifier was a nightmare in my living room. A $20 bottle of cleaning product has never wreaked so much havoc. I bought this because I was looking for a solution other than using my carpet shampoo for accidents when I was potty training my newly adopted 50 lb puppy. The (simplified) instructions on the label say to apply the product, leave it on for 8 hours and then remove it with a carpet cleaner dampened with water. On the website they give manual cleaning instructions. I hand washed my rug twice as directed and used my Kirby's shampoo head once to remove the soap because I didn't feel it compared to hand cleaning. For the record, after three times my carpet still smells like urine. After a morning mess, I decided to just get out my damn Kirby and not apply the stuff (because why would I do that when I have to use my carpet cleaner?). I used a full dose of water and found the carpet was soapy when I was done. I made another batch of water, more foam. Another portion of water, more foam. The fourth portion of water and an hour later my carpet is DRINKING and FULL of foam. The carpet cushion underneath is WET and FULL of foam. Mind you, I soaked up the water for fifteen minutes in each of the four rounds. When I stand on my carpet and sink into it, the foam almost completely covers my toes. I swept my coffee table off the carpet, leaving a trail of foam on my hardwood floor. I rolled the carpet, rolled the carpet and dried the floor. Remember I've cleaned my old carpet over hardwood floors a few times with a carpet cleaner and regular "clean" carpet shampoo without damaging the floors. I cleaned my new carpet (the one in the photos) once using the same method with no problems. It was only when I used this product with its "manual" technique that my nightmare began. I have no idea what to do to get the foam off my carpet. The carpet and carpet underlay are currently rolled up and I have fans to dry them but they do not remove the foam. I really have no idea what to do from here. I almost want to ditch the rug I bought six weeks ago and buy a new one so I don't have to fiddle with it. 😭😭😭 Two days later my carpet is almost dry AND it still smells like urine! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I gave up traditional chemical cleaning products about ten years ago, so I am very sensitive to the smell of most cleaning products. Now I use Thieves for almost every cleaning, but with a new dog in the house (and therefore a new mess on the floor) I wanted something made for dogs. First, this cleaner smells so good! The aroma is light and clean, unobtrusive. And I'm pretty confident that he's doing his job. However, it left an oily residue on my hardwood floor that was irritating under bare feet. I had to use my Thieves cleaner to get the job done. To be fair, this cleaner isn't advertised for hardwood, but I realized that if I use it on my carpet, I'll definitely need to use my carpet shampoo to wash the carpet with water afterwards.
