This was another purchase made on the words of other buyers and I'm happy to report that my fellow reviewers really helped me again! I use two 3D printers as a handyman and hobbyist. , so I often work with 3D printer filament. For several reasons, which I won't go into detail here as I continue with tangents, I really do need to trim a piece of thread periodically. I bought Stanley pliers and had to sharpen the jaws a lot. Wire cutters that came with the kit to make them very useful but I use them for cutting electronic cables. I bought another pair of pliers from Harbor Freight Tools and got what I paid for. The cutting edges were MUCH misaligned to the point where they were almost unusable as knives. But to my sudden surprise, I found that they work very well for clearing melted filament from my printer's nozzles! So I didn't bring them back to the store. But I wanted some SHARP cutters to cut cleanly instead of crushing my 3D printer's filaments. Again I bought these based on reviews and they are fantastic for my purpose! These pliers are incredibly sharp! I've used them consistently for the few weeks I have and have always been impressed. While I haven't used them to cut harder materials (like small bolts or screws), I agree with other reviewers that these pliers wear out very quickly. The jaws of these pliers are literally sharpened like scissor blades, allowing them to cut material like scissors rather than shredding materials like diagonal cutters typically do. If you need good diagonal pliers for cutting hard material, this may not be for you. But if you want really sharp pliers for cutting softer materials, these are worth a try!
