This was the perfect item for my needs. Firstly, it looks exactly like the pictures. The stain colors and distressing look great. Although cheap, it's well made and has the vintage look I was looking for. I bought it as a gift, not for storage. I used it to put a bottle of quality bourbon and a bottle of single malt whiskey on each side as a gift for my dad. Once the bottles were in place there was little slack and I didn't want them to rattle so I filled the voids with a small straw to keep the vintage look. The leather straps close perfectly and the metal clasp also keeps the lid tightly closed. My only caveat is lifting the entire crate with two hands once the bottles are in, as with the added weight I'm not sure the top leather strap is strong enough to hold it. Overall, this is a great container for adding visual interest to gift bottles.
