Review on Black Walnut Bread Lame Made by Kimberly Becker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful, unique on cutlery and knife accessories

This is my first bread maker and I bought it because it's made in the USA and it's handmade and it's beautiful. However, I had expected a slightly better wood look. There are rough edges where the hole is drilled in the bottom of the handle that I can't fix unless I sand and repaint. I took everything apart and used brass polish on the trim and thumbscrews because they were so tarnished they barely looked like brass. However, they are beautifully polished and now look like gleaming gold. I have to say that the paper label on the box was difficult to remove and I ended up cutting it open when I first thought I could take it off. What if I need to return it? I couldn't reattach the paper label so I would get stuck. It had some kind of sticker underneath so it couldn't slide off and reattach. The instructions are weird and I actually removed the thumbscrews completely and then inserted the blade. A bit strange corner but it works and stays inside. It is suitable for storing in a wooden box, if you put it at an angle, then you can put the wooden lid back on, which is nice. I like it for the design and for not being made in China but I really expected better workmanship from the handsome gentleman in the photo. I'm still glad I bought it and although it costs four times the price of other similarly styled devices, it was worth it.
