They may work better than some, but not in comparison. I have ordered and used them a few times for my whole house fountain filter. I've tried these and the rope wrapped and hard plastic ones that appear to be made out of what looks like styrofoam. The plastic ones are probably the cheapest and they don't filter sediment well, but they don't smell very nice and don't seem to last long before they and my canister start looking terrible. I had trouble closing them properly in the canister and the water pressure was poor. I change them every 2 months, don't use much water, but after 2 months they were all green, there was a lot of sediment in the water. I poured water (even after filtering it again with a ceramic filter under the sink) into my cat's bowl and wiped it off the next day to replace it, and the paper towel looked distinctly brownish, like water when I put it cooked. So now I'm using these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZYC5NG5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They work almost magically, no sign of sediment or smell and even the water pressure seems to be better. To my even greater surprise, there was a lot of debris (both brown and green) in the canister that was difficult to wipe off, but after I put new ones in it a few days later, the canister actually looked almost new. The new ones are more expensive, sorry I didn't take pictures but I didn't. No, I am not affiliated with either of them and do not receive a discount for a review.
