I have two of these and love them. We have so many things that charge via USB cables and this thing makes perfect sense. So far everything I have plugged in is loading. Not sure how "fast" charging is, we usually just leave them overnight. It is driven by the top fork and screws into the middle plate screw. So you need to unscrew the screw that is currently in the middle of your socket. You'll probably want to turn off the circuit breaker to be on the safe side. Nothing beats using a flathead screwdriver on a live outlet. I'm sure the instructions tell you to do this, but I'm a male and all the instructions I need were programmed into my head at birth. And since I'm a male, I installed mine with the power on. Ahh, the thrill! As I mentioned, it gets power from the top outlet, not both outlets. So if you connect different top and bottom outputs, please note that it works with the top output. I usually see this when the outlet is connected to a switch. One outlet is always on and the other is connected to the switch. Depending on the wiring, in this case it can be always on or connected to a switch. Have fun charging.
