I was skeptical at first but it really works. I have a 7700k that is known to get very hot even when not overclocked. I used to have a Corsair h100i v2 AIO water cooling system and applied Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste, the idle temperatures were constant at 59-60°C. When running Cinebench, the maximum temperature was 101 C and performance dropped due to thermal throttling. The Cinebench score is 884 points. So I opened up the case, removed all of the thermal paste using the ArctiClean dual solution kit, and then reinstalled the gasket. Now the idle system temperature is 45 °C and the maximum Cinebench temperature is 97 °C. Since the processor was not thermally throttled, the result was 953 cb instead of 884 cb. I may have applied the thermal paste incorrectly, too much or too little, but the pad keeps things simple and can be reused if you want to make further changes. NOTE: After using the pad I also dropped my 7700k to put liquid metal between the actual CPU and the IHS and my idle hit 37C and Cinebench maxed out. 72 C, but the Cinebench result stayed the same since the throttling didn't change between the last few runs. I could try overclocking some of these now, but I don't care. I hope my experience helps, but I will only use these pads from now on.
